Ornithine ketoacid aminotransferase in the bovine eye.

چکیده
Ornithine ketoacid aminotransferase in bovine ocular tissues was studied biochemically. The retinal pigment epithelium, ciliary body, iris, and neuroretina showed high specific activity. The cornea and choroid revealed a lower activity. Aqueous humor, lens, vitreous body, and sclera showed no activity. The pH optima of the enzyme in the retinal pigment epithelium and ciliary body were near 8.0.

Development of ornithine ketoacid aminotransferase in rabbit ocular tissues and liver.
Ornithine ketoacid aminotransferase in ocular tissues and liver was examined biochemically during the development of the rabbit. Developmental differences of specific enzyme activities were found between the ocular tissues and liver. The retina and choroid showed a relatively low activity after birth and an increased activity at 2.5 weeks, which remained high thereafter. The ciliary body and ir...
متن کاملExtractability and intracellular localisation of urea cycle enzymes from rat liver.
1. Urea cycle enzymes and ornithine ketoacid transaminase were extracted from rat liver using various buffer systems and different procedures for the mechanical disintegration of the cells. Of the buffers tested, phosphate and glutathipne gave optimal results, whereas significant differences were found when other extracting media were used: activities of ornithine ketoacid transaminase and orni...
متن کاملGyrate atrophy with hyperornithinaemia: different types of responsiveness to vitamin B6.
Three cases of Japanese patients with gyrate atrophy of the choroid and retina with hyperornithinaemia were studied clinically and biochemically. The types of disease differed in responsiveness to vitamin B6. In-vivo responsiveness to vitamin B6 was correlated with in-vitro data. It is suggested that the in-vitro examination of the influence of pyridoxal phosphate on ornithine ketoacid transami...
متن کاملImmunocytochemical localization of ornithine aminotransferase in rat ocular tissues.
Gyrate atrophy of the choroid and retina is a rare inherited form of chorioretinal degeneration due to a deficiency of ornithine aminotransferase (OAT). We localized the enzyme in rat ocular tissues using immunocytochemical procedures. Immunoreactivity was observed in the epithelia of ciliary body, iris, and lens. Retinal pigment epithelium and Müller cells were immunoreactive in the retina. A ...
متن کاملGyrate Atrophy of the Choroid and Retina: A Case Report
Introduction Gyrate atrophy of the choroid and retina is a metabolic disorder, which is inherited in an autosomal recessive pattern. Although gyrate atrophy is rare, it is concerning as it results in blindness. It is characterized by hyperornithinemia, retinal atrophy, leads to progressive myopia and tunnel vision,...
